Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5: 13-16
WHy is a prayer team important?
A prayer team is two or more members of your church who have been appointed and blessed by leadership to minister to the needs of its members through personal prayer. Why does the Church need prayer teams? The needs within the Body of Christ are extensive. Within each church community there are those who are suffering: physically, emotionally, spiritually and relationally. In light of this, the demands on clergy can be overwhelming, causing them to feel stretched thin and often unable to give greater attention to prayer and the ministry of the Word. (Acts 6:2-4) We believe that through effectively training the laity, the pastoral care among church members can be multiplied and divided tremendously! The Chattanooga House of Prayer would love to come alongside your church to facilitate the process of training and integration.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Gathering a Team
Gathering a team of spiritually and emotionally mature men and women who have been selected by leadership, and who have a heart for prayer and ministering to the needs of others.
Training through several day-long sessions or multiple monthly meetings.
Integrating trained prayer ministers into your weekly services, and in other ways such as: visiting the sick in hospitals, the homebound, or through conducting personal prayer appointments.
Follow-up is necessary - therefore we remain with your teams beyond initial training to offer feedback and to help establish a fruitful and thriving prayer team ministry.
